About Google Cloud Identity
Cloud Identity is Google's service for managing users, groups and the devices they sign in from. It sits behind Google Workspace accounts and keeps a register of every device connected to your organisation, with details on what each one is and who owns it.
What this integration does for you
Desktops come in with the rest. Cloud Identity's device register includes desktops as well as laptops and phones, so the machine under a desk in the office gets a record in Velory too.
Company-owned and personal, sorted on arrival. Velory reads the ownership Google has on file, so personal devices stay apart from the hardware you're responsible for.
One record per device. When a device has been registered in Google more than once, Velory merges the duplicates, so your count matches what's actually out there.
Get started
A Google Workspace super admin grants Velory access in the Google Admin console through domain-wide delegation, using the client ID and scope Velory shows during setup. They then enter their admin email in Velory. Google can take up to 24 hours to apply the access. Velory syncs every hour and reads device data only. It can't see email, files or anything else in your Workspace.
Data availability
Once connected, devices are imported with:
- Serial number
- Model
- Device type
- Operating system version
- Ownership (company-owned or personal)
- Asset tag
- IMEI, for phones
- Last sync time
FAQ
Does Velory integrate with Google Cloud Identity?
Yes. Velory reads the Cloud Identity device register and imports your devices, desktops and ownership details included.
How is this different from the Google Endpoint Management integration?
Google Endpoint Management syncs ChromeOS and mobile devices through Google Workspace. The Google Cloud integration reads Cloud Identity's device register, which also covers desktops and records whether a device is company-owned. If you're unsure which fits your setup, our support team can help.
Can Velory read our email or files?
No. The access you grant covers device data only.
