About Okta
Okta is an identity provider (IdP) that companies use to manage employee accounts and sign-in. SCIM is the standard Okta uses to provision users into other apps automatically, so accounts are created and updated without anyone doing it by hand.
What the Okta integration does
With Okta connected, your team signs in to Velory through Okta, and Velory's user list stays in line with your Okta directory. Every device, licence and phone plan in Velory is assigned to someone on that list, which is why keeping it current matters for the rest of your IT lifecycle.
Single sign-on (SSO) with Okta
Admins and employees log in to Velory with their Okta account, so there's no separate Velory password to manage. Once SSO is set up, you can turn off email and password login and make Okta the only way in.
User provisioning with SCIM
Velory imports your existing users and adds new ones as they're created in Okta. When a user's details change, the update syncs across too, so nobody has to maintain the employee list in Velory by hand.

Data availability
Once connected, users are imported with the following data points:
- First name
- Last name
- Identity provider ID (the user's ID in Okta)
- State
Data updates
User data syncs daily. If you need a change to show up sooner, you can run a sync manually with one click.
